Temporary Distortion is seeking a volunteer intern for its current work in progress, Americana Kamikaze (US Premiere: Performance Space 122, New York 10/09. European Premiere: EXIT Festival, Paris 03/10). The intern will provide administrative support for the company in areas such as publicity, fundraising, and research, allowing for valuable practical experience in the operation of a professional non-profit touring theater company. Clerical duties will be balanced out by production work, including: taking rehearsal notes, assisting with loading/unloading of tours, learning computer based lighting, sound and video control systems, etc. All work will be based at Temporary Distortion’s rehearsal studio in Long Island City, Queens. Future overseas opportunities may become available based on the staffing needs of the company when on tour.

The aim of this issue of Performance Research is to examine cultural representations of death and dying and their relation to performance. ‘Memento Mori’ invites proposals for articles, artist’s pages and other documents for this issue. In the first instance please send proposals of 300-500 words (full articles should ONLY be sent after acceptance to proceed to draft stage). For artist’s pages and other documents please send a sample of up to 3 images (or other material) and an accompanying rationale of 200-300 words.

Art in Odd Places (AiOP) 2009: SIGN invites proposals from visual and performing artists interested in the spectacle of daily urban life. In its 5th edition, AiOP takes place on 14th Street, NYC from October 1-26, 2009. We encourage artists and performers to explore its length and diversity, tease out its history and intervene imaginatively to encourage visitors, workers and inhabitants to discover it anew. LMCC Swing Space Project-Based Residencies
Swing Space makes vacant spaces available to artists, arts groups, curators, and arts organizations for the development and presentation of new projects in the visual and performing arts. Projects recommended by our independent review panel will be considered for placement from November 2009 through July 2010 for residencies lasting 2–4 months.
